Hold your phone up and turn around. Every star on the screen is a real star in the Yale Bright Star Catalogue, in the place it is tonight — and the 27 nakshatras are drawn across them, so you can see not just which star but whose ground you are looking at.

What you are looking at

8,404 stars down to magnitude 6.5, which is everything a dark-sky night shows the naked eye. The Sun, the Moon, the five visible planets, and Rahu and Ketu — the two points where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's, which is where eclipses happen and which no other sky map draws. A horizon that is your horizon once you have given the app a location.

The nakshatras, drawn where they fall

A nakshatra is a 13°20′ slice of the zodiac, and each one is anchored to a real star — Rohini to Aldebaran, Krittika to Alcyone in the Pleiades, Ardra to Betelgeuse. This map draws the asterism each anchor star lives in, from the catalogue rather than from a diagram, with the anchor itself ringed. Point at Orion's shoulder and it will tell you that is Ardra, and whether anything is standing there tonight.

It works with no signal, and it does not want an account

Everything is computed on your device: there is no server, no lookup and nothing to send. Add it to your home screen and it opens offline, which is where a sky map is actually used. There are no ads on this page and no setting that could put one here.

Method · Positions from the Yale Bright Star Catalogue (BSC5), precessed from J2000 to the equinox of date · planets from a VSOP-derived series, tropical, converted with the obliquity of date · nakshatras on the Lahiri ayanamsa · azimuth measured from true north · magnetic declination from WMM2025 where the device reports a magnetic heading. No refraction, no proper motion, no nutation; each is smaller than a drawn star.
